Navan and Its Ammenities

Navan is the county town of Meath and is situated at the confluence of the Boyne and Blackwater rivers.

It is a thriving market town with plenty of good restaurants, hotels, pubs offering live music, night clubs, 24 hour taxi service, shopping centre, 6-screen cinema and newly built swimming pool with leisure centre.

The area around Navan is rich in historical significance with many natural amenities close by. It is also an anglers delight, a racecourse for the equestrian lovers, 11 golf courses and many other sporting facilities in the county.

The Castle dates back to around 1250 and is the largest and most important Norman Castle in Ireland. Sections of the Film "Braveheart" staring Mel Gibson were filmed here.

Kells is one of Ireland's most historical towns. It is renowned for its High Crosses, Round Tower, St Colmcille's House and its magnificent manuscript - the world famous "Book of Kells". This manuscript is presently in Trinity College but a fine facsimile can be seen in the Town Hall.

For those who enjoy a round of golf, there are many championship courses as well as public courses within a few miles e.g. Royal Tara Golf Club, Trim Golf Club, and Headford Golf Club.
